A smile to be proud of
Did you know that one in four of us in the UK are unhappy with our smile? With advances in modern dentistry, its no longer just a case of filling and taking out teeth. Cosmetic dentistry, or ‘aesthetic dentistry', refers to a range of procedures which are carried out to enhance the appearance of the teeth and gums. Used to straighten, reshape, lighten and repair teeth, the overall aim is to achieve the perfect ‘white smile’ which will also enhance the rest of the facial appearance. Cosmetic dentistry should always aim to produce natural-looking results for patients.
Our wide range of effective cosmetic treatments can help you with your discoloured, worn, chipped or crooked teeth. A perfect smile could help land you that new job, or make the right impression when it counts. After all, one of the first things people notice about you is your smile. That's why at Rosewood Dental Clinic we understand how important it is to smile with confidence.
As seen on cosmetic makeover TV programs, veneers are used to improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth. They can instantly improve your smile by masking discolouration, closing small gaps and repairing chips. The veneer itself is a very thin layer of porcelain, often likened to a false fingernail.
Crowns cover and strengthen a chipped or weakened tooth, and are custom-made in the laboratory to match the shade and shape of your other teeth. This normally requires careful shaping before an impression is taken. These can be made from porcelain or porcelain bonded to a precious metal frame.
In the past fillings have generally been made of a silver-coloured alloy called amalgam which although extremely durable does not match the colour of your teeth. At Rosewood Dental we offer white fillings which look natural, so no-one will be able to tell you have them.
Phillips Zoom! Teeth whitening™ - in surgery
Teeth whitening treatment will give your smile a renewed sparkle and will improve your self-confidence. Whitening lifts off stains from the enamel and works by allowing a very small amount of bleaching gel to come in to contact with the teeth. The gel then reacts with the surface of the tooth, gently removing stains.
We offer the Zoom! Advanced Power™ in-practice procedure. Using whitening gel with state-of-the-art light technology, this whitening treatment leaves your teeth an average of eight shades whiter in less than an hour.
Zoom is the latest ‘laser’ whitening technique and the procedure is safe, fast acting, gentle and very effective.
We’ll also provide you with a set of bespoke whitening trays so you can continue the process at home.
Teeth whitening at home
Home teeth whitening is an alternative way of enhancing your smile to safely lighten your teeth. Lightweight trays are custom made for you that fit snugly over your teeth. You then place whitening gel inside the trays and either wear them at night, or for a few hours during the day depending on your preference.
Over a period of 1-2 weeks, visible results will normally be seen. The results vary from person to person and your dentist will be able to give you an idea of the likely results during your initial consultation.
The results are likely to last between 12-24 months, after your treatment is complete. If you keep your trays safe, you can 'top up' the effects at a later stage by buying the gel and using it for 2-3 days to refresh the colour.
